I've Just Seen A Face

Chapter 26
Home

It was weeks before I saw the Beatles again. They called only once, and it was neither George nor Paul. It was John and Ringo. Apparently the other two weren’t around, but I think they just didn’t want to talk to me. I hoped their friendship wasn’t totally ruined, nor that they hated me. It wasn’t a very long talk, just a ‘hi how are you’. Things around home seemed to be going okay, with Davy and I. I was starting to get back into the swing of the old days. It was still hard at times, but being that I hadn’t seen or talked to Paul in weeks, I didn’t think of him too often. But on occasion, he would enter my mind, bringing me to tears. John told me that they might come and visit, and the word ‘might’ made me sad. Before, they would do anything to come and visit and now it was a might. What have I done? The days came and went nothing to much happening. It was just the same thing day after day. The weird things seemed to stop for a while, and Davy went back to his routine of flirting around. In fact, once I caught him kissing some girl. One positive to getting back together was that I thought it would show Davy how serious I was about him stopping his messing around. Apparently he didn’t get it. Would he ever? I was beginning to think not. Well, The Beatles did end up coming a few days after I talked to John. It was really nice, but awkward at the same time.
“Hey, luv, how are you?” John asked on the other line.
“Good yourself? And the guys?” I asked.
“Oh, not to bad. Just got into town about an hour ago.” He said.
“Cool, how was the flight?”
“Same old, same old.” John said. There was silence for a while. I really wanted to see them and talk to George and Paul.
“So, how are George and Paul?” I asked John.
“Good. The two of them are pretty much normal again. I think, even though this sounds bad, that the time away from you has made George think a little and he’s realized that he didn’t really love you like he thought. He's actually seeing one of the models from A Hard Days Night, Pattie. However, I don‘t think he‘s fully accepted the whole thing with Paul liking you though, just because you are an ex. But just between you and me, I think he‘s pretty damn close.” I smiled. I was actually relieved to hear that George didn’t really love me, and that Paul and I might still have a chance someday.
“What about Paul?“ I asked. John hadn’t mentioned much about how he was doing.
“Oh, he’s alive.” John said laughing a bit, “He’s not quite back to our Paulie, but pretty close. I think he still likes you very much…” John said. I didn’t say anything back to that.
“So, will they ever talk to me?” I asked, changing the topic slightly.
“Oh sure, they actually want you to come over.” John said.
“Really?” I said excited.
“Ya, bring everyone.”
“Everyone? Even Davy?” I asked.
“Yeah, he is your boyfriend is he not?” John asked. I cringed, but nodded.
“Yeah…when do you want us to come over?” I asked.
“Now if you want. You know where we are.” He said. We hung up and I called the others. They were excited, even Davy. I think he was excited because he got to rub it in George and Paul’s face that I was his again. Even though deep inside he wasn’t the one that I wanted. We were at the Beatles hotel room within a half an hour.
“Hey everyone!” Ringo said, as we walked in. We all exchanged greetings and found a place to sit. I was seated on the couch next to Davy and John, Paul sitting on the ground next to my legs. We didn’t really look at each other. I had to try and keep control….
“So what does everyone want to do?” Brittany asked.
“Don’t know really,” Paul said.
“Well, I have an idea.” Brittany said.
“What’s that?” Davy asked.
“Spin the bottle!” She said excitedly. Everyone groaned.
“What is it with you and old kiddie games?” Paul asked. She glared at him.
“They’re fun.” she said, “Come on….please…” Everyone agreed unwillingly, and gathered around the floor in a circle. The Beatles had plenty of beer bottles so we just used one of those. We had to put the top on it though, because it reeked.
“Okay, me first.” Brittany said spinning. It landed on Mike. She made a little face, but obliged and kissed him. It was Mikes turn. Mike spun to Ringo first, but luckily Sara second. They kissed and I wondered what was going on with them, because of John and Sara. The game continued, and soon it was my turn, (being kissed by Micky). I spun and it finally stopped. I followed the nose of the bottle to it’s pickee and saw Paul looking at me. My heart began to beat really fast. He was sitting across from me, so I slowly began to crawl towards the middle, him crawling the other half. We didn’t take our eyes off each other, and before we knew it we were only inches apart. I could feel Davy’s eyes staring into me, but I didn’t care. I hadn’t kissed Paul in weeks, and now I was seconds away from doing just that. We came closer and he shut he eyes. I followed placing my lips on his. I was wondering whether we were supposed to use tongue or not, but it didn‘t matter because Paul slipped his tongue inside my mouth. Melting inside, I let him, as well as did it myself. I don’t know how long we were like that, but I think it was too long, because we were pulled apart by Brittany and John. Everyone was staring at us, but I blocked everyone out and continued looking at Paul. He was so gorgeous….
“Paul, it’s your turn.” John said slugging him. Paul blinked and looked in John’s direction. When Paul blinked I looked away and realized that I had been staring. John gave him a face saying ‘you better cool it‘, and Paul understood, spinning the bottle as if nothing had happened.
“Well, that was longer than normal.” Davy said. I turned to him and smiled as best as I could.
I didn’t respond, instead I turned away from him looking at Brittany. She made the same face as John. Unfortunately, Paul ended up having the bottle land on Brittany, but luckily their kiss didn’t last very long. Before we quit, I had one more turn and with all the luck in the world, I got Paul again. Davy said no, but I told him to settle down. We kissed again, but this time like everybody else. But deep down I wanted more. Everyone was getting hungry, so John had Brian order a whole bunch of food from room service. I think they brought up everything they had! They didn’t have any bottled water in their room (which is the only kind of water that I like), so I had to go out to the vending machine to get some. . As I was putting my change in the machine, I heard somebody behind me. Before I turned around I felt their hands go around my waist. I thought it was Davy, but as I looked down, I recognized Paul’s hands. I turned around, smiled, and said nothing.
“Hello, luv. Good to see you again..” He said smiling, and kissing me on the forehead.
“You don’t hate me?” I asked him. He pulled back and making a face he shook his head.
“Luv, of course I don’t hate you. Why would you think that?” He asked pulling me closer. I shrugged. Before I spoke, a gentleman came to use the machine. We apologized for being in the way and so Paul pulled me back with him to the corner of the little room. I had my back against the wall.
“I don’t know. You never talked to me on the phone when John called, and you just seem to not want to see me or anything.” I said.
“I wasn’t there when John called you, first of all. Secondly, I do want to see you, more than anything. The only reason I wouldn’t, would be because when I see you I remember how much I like you and that I can’t have you. Olivia, on this last tour, my whole days were filled with thinking about you, dreaming of you. When I’m around you, I lose myself. I get weak in the knees and my stomach flutters. But, you always seem to be in love with a different man.” He said sadly and kind of smiled. That was the sweetest thing I had ever heard (he was really good at that. Saying all the right things…), and knowing he thought I didn’t really like him didn’t make me want to smile, but I had to let him know he was wrong. So instead I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. Before it got too deep I pulled away and explained something I’ve wanted to for a while.
“Paul, the reason we aren’t together is not Davy. It’s George.” I said. He looked puzzled.
“What? You said you were in love with Davy again.” He said.
“I lied. I mean I’ll always love Davy, but not like that. I was just saying that because I didn’t want you to see how hurt I was. I felt stupid.” I said telling him the truth. He smiled.
“Really?” he asked me. I nodded.
“Yes.”
“I wish you would’ve showed me. It would’ve been a lot less painful, and I wouldn‘t have though you were stupid.” He said.
“I know, I heard you talking to John later on. I popped in on your conversation, but didn’t say anything. That’s when I realized that I made things worse by lying to you.” I said, “But we still can’t be together…yet. George hasn’t accepted it.” I said. Paul nodded knowing I was right.
“That’s right luv, but when he does, I’ll be here waiting for you.” He said softly and began kissing me again. This time I did let it get deeper. Kissing Paul again made all our worries fade away, and it felt so right. We were all alone in the vending room, so things started heating up. Paul was pressing his body against mine, making me pressed up against the wall. He moved his kiss from my lips down to my neck, slowly kissing every little spot in between. I had my arms around him pulling him closer and I continued to shut my eyes feeling so much. I knew I would have to cut it off soon, because the other’s would be wondering where we were. It was so hard to do so, and I could tell by the feeling in Paul’s pants (if you know what I mean), that it would kill him when I stopped. Luckily, I didn’t have to stop it.
“Olivia!” I opened my eyes and Paul flung around. We both moved away from each other as Davy stood in the entry way staring at us.
“What in the world are you doing?” Davy shouted. I didn’t know what to say.
“It wasn’t her fault,” Paul said. I looked over at him. What was he doing?
“What do you mean, she was kissing you!” Davy said.
“No,…I got really horny when I kissed her during the game so I tried again.” he said. I couldn’t believe he said that! What a sweetie, he must’ve been embarrassed. Davy just glared at the two of us. Then he looked at me and stared into my eyes. I tried my best to hide the truth, and it worked.
“Come on Olivia,” Davy said coming and grabbed my hand and began walking towards the room. I looked back at Paul and smiled sadly. He smiled back and began following us. When we walked in the room, all the lights were off and there a few candles lit. Everyone except
Peter was there.
“What’s going on in here?” Paul said walking past me and Davy to go sit next to John and Ringo.
“Brittany here, is going to, well, I don’t really know what she’s doing,” George said.
“See this here?” She asked as me and Davy sat down, Davy staring at Paul. Paul ignored him, “You ask a question and if it turns this way, it’s yes, and this way for no.” she explained. She was holding a necklace with some circle for the pendant. I didn’t believe it, but then again she was able to hypnotize Davy.
“I don’t believe you,” Emily said.
“Oh yeah? Well we’ll test it.” Brittany said, “ Is John wearing a hat?” she asked, and sure enough the necklace said no.
“Coincidence.” Emily said. Brittany was frustrated.
“Fine, ask it another question.” she said.
“Um, is Peter out getting more food?” She asked. The necklace said yes, and just then Peter walked in the room with a hot dog. Emily’s eyes got big.
“See, I told you.” Brittany said.
“Let me try that.” Davy said, and whispered a question to Brittany.
“Yes…” Brittany said. Davy suddenly looked madder and Brittany glanced at me. What did he ask?
“Who’s next?” Brittany asked. Paul got up and walked over to her. He too whispered a question.
“Yes,” Brittany said, he looked pleased. I got up and walked over.
“Am I going to be with Davy forever?” I whispered.
“No,” Brittany said.
“Will I end up with Paul?” I whispered again.
“Yes,” she said and raised her eyebrows at me. Now I was pleased.
“Anyone else?” John did one and also got the answer yes. It was really creepy how a necklace could answer your questions, correctly. The night was getting late so we all headed home. Davy didn’t speak until we got to my door.
“Want to know what I asked her?” he said. I stopped unlocking my door and looked at him.
“What?” I asked curious.
“I asked if you and Paul were going to mess around again.” He said sad and angry, “and it said yes.” Davy finished. I was shocked that he asked that.
“Well, I don’t think that’s true. Paul already told you what happened. I was trying to push him away,” I said. Davy came in when I really was trying to push Paul away, he just didn’t know the real reason. Davy just looked at me exhausted.
“Plus, Davy, it wasn’t too long ago where I caught you kissing a girl.” I said reminding him.
“Olivia, I already explained. She wouldn’t give my wallet back unless I kissed her.” He said.
“Okay, then. We both didn’t do it willingly, so let’s drop it okay? I’m tired.” I said. He nodded and followed me into my room. He slept over again that night, but nothing happened. As he held me fast asleep all I could think about was Paul and the questions I and Davy had asked Brittany. Was I really going to mess around with Paul again, and were we really going to end up together? I wished I knew what Paul asked…..
