Chapter 12

“Hey, I’ve been meaning to tell you something for a few days,” I said still cuddling with Paul. I wanted to forget completely about the whole John thing. I felt Paul move back slightly.
“Please don’t tell me you don’t love me again…” he said. I laughed.
“No, it’s nothing like that. It’s very much the opposite,” I said smiling.
“Phew, go ahead then,” he said.
“I talked to Davy,” I told him. He moved me so he could look at me.
“You did? When?”
“Um, a few days ago.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” he asked.
“Well, it was the same day that you were with the ‘magic’ girl.” I said putting quotations on magic.
“Olivia, she was…” he said softly.
“I know….. But that’s where I was before I popped back here. After popping back to that, I really didn’t feel like telling you that I talked to him…” I said. He cringed.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t either. I’m sorry again love,” he said. I shook my head.
“Don’t worry about it.”
“So what happened?” he asked.
“Well, I’ll be honest with you. It was a lot harder than I planned it being, but I ended it.”
“Do you think you made a mistake?” he asked me. I looked into his eyes.
“Paul, don’t ask such a thing. Of course I don’t. I just meant that it was hard because I know how Davy is and I knew he wouldn’t understand. I still care for him, I always will, so to see him hurt like that, was just hard.” I said feeling sad. Paul hugged me softly.
“I know; he was your first love.” He said making me feel a little better. I didn’t know how he would react to my still really caring for Davy, “So how did he take it?” he asked. I was surprised he actually cared about Davy’s feelings. I knew deep down, he was a sensitive guy, even to those he hated. I shrugged.
“Not well. He asked me where I was first of all, so I told him that I was stuck here with you. Then I went into how I’m in love with you, and that me and him have changed too much to continue in a relationship anyway. He couldn’t believe it, and then got pissed. He started saying some pretty mean things about you, in which I returned saying some mean things about him.” Paul smiled, “What?” I asked seeing his grin.
“Nothing, I just like how you stood up for me,” he said smiling. I smiled back.
“Well of course I would, I love you, and I’m sick of hearing him say crap about you. Which I told him, and said that he knows it’s not true anyway. He agreed and immediately got sad. He tried to convince me that you weren’t the one for me and that we could work things out. Basically I told him no we couldn’t, that I really love you and that despite what he thinks….” I paused, “I think you’re the one…” I said softly. Paul kissed me.
“I know you’re the one,” he said just as soft. I smiled and we kissed again. After a few moments passed, we stopped.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner. But things just kept coming up. Like the magic girl, the Jane thing, then this weird John thing. But now you know. Davy and I are officially over.” I said. He smiled.
“And you and I are officially together.” He said, “Although we really have been for a while.” I nodded.
“Yeah, I like the sound of that.” I said.
“So do I,” he replied, “You know, you haven’t given me that dance yet…” Paul suddenly said. I turned to face him.
“Where did that come from?” I asked surprised.
“I don’t know. It just popped in me head.” He said laughing.
“Everything was so romantic and sweet and you had to bring up my dance,” I said shaking my head, but laughing. He laughed.
“I’m sorry love…but you haven’t you know.” He said looking at me.
“You really want me to do it now?” I asked. He nodded.
“Yes please,” I laughed, “You are so weird.” I told him. He made a funny face.
“Nah, I’m not.”
“Will you do one for me?” I asked him. He made another face. This time it was more of a shock and ‘yeah right’ look.
“What!? Darlin’, I’m no Chippendale. You, however, have been a stripper.” He said.
“So, it wasn’t for very long. C’mon, it’s just me….” I said pouting.
“That’s not going to work love, I don’t do stripper dances.” He said. I turned my body so I was completely facing him. I began playing with his hair, moving on to caresses his face, neck, and chest; the pout face still on. He laughed and shook his head.
“Please, Paulie…..for me,” I said sadly. He looked at me and gave me a look. I smiled. I knew it would work.
“I can’t believe I’m going to fall for this,” he said smiling.
“Haha! Yay, thank you!” I said laughing and wrapping my arms around his neck, to hug him. He laughed.
“Are you wanting this just so you can laugh at me?” he asked. I leaned back and looked at him.
“No, I really want to see you do one, an officer one.” I said smiling.
“An officer? Love, you’re crazy.” He said shaking his head.
“Please! There is a fake badge in here. Use it, and say ‘You’re under arrest.’” I said laughing. He burst out in laughter, shaking his head strongly.
“No way! I’m out of the whole thing now,” he said and I put the pout face back on and started playing with his hair again. He pulled my hands away and laughed, “Not even that is going to work again,” He said. I tried to keep pouting but ended up giggling.
“Please?” I asked again and he shook his head.
“Nope, sorry love.” He said.
“I’ll give a double dance, if you do one for me,” I said trying the more seductive approach. He continued to shake his head.
“There’s no way in hell, I’m doing an officer stripper dance.”
“Even for me? I won’t tell anyone,” I said, wrapping my legs around his waist. He looked down and then back at me.
“Wha-” he started and I placed my finger on his lips to quiet him.
“Shh, don’t say anything,” I said and scooted up against him as much as I could and began to kiss him among a few other things. I finally got him to lean backwards and lay on his back. I continued to kiss him, as he returned heavily getting into it. Then he suddenly stopped.
“You’re doing all this just to get me to dance for you?” he asked me.
“Mostly, but also cuz I kinda like doing this with you,” I said joking around. He laughed and shook his head, “So, will you?” I asked. He just looked into my eyes for a few moments. He breathed out deeply, and a smile crept onto my face.
“Fine,” he said. My smile was complete.
“The power I have over you,” I said and he laughed.
“But not till we’re done.” He said starting to kiss me again. The rest of the evening consisted of romance between the two of us. We did the usual a couple times, as well as my strip dance for him and his for me (which really was funny, but sexy at the same time  ). To end the night off, we cuddled and fell asleep in each other’s arms.

The next morning a new aroma filled the air, and I felt something wet on my arm. Then I heard heavy breathing. That can’t be Paul…I could feel him behind me, his arm wrapped around my waist not moving….I opened my eyes to see what it was and almost screamed with excitement. There in front of me was a very happy sheepdog. I looked around the room. It must be Paul’s house. I turned towards Paul who was sound asleep. I rolled completely over and shook him.
“Paul! Paul wake up!” I said happily. He groaned and nuzzled his face in my chest. I smiled and turned back towards Martha who was still looking at us happily. I wasn’t sure if she was allowed on the furniture, but this was a special occasion. I patted the bed for her to get up and with not even a second of hesitation she jumped up. Within a second she eyed her master asleep next to me and with her tail going a million miles an hour, she began licking his face. He himself, made a face as he tried to push her snout away. I laughed as I watched them. Finally, I was here…..
“Martha, girl, stop it,” he said without opening his eyes. Afterwards he froze and opened them immediately, “Martha!” he yelled surprised to see her. Martha returned with a happy bark.
“I tried to wake you,” I said. He turned and faced me, a happy grin covering his face.
“Olivia,” he said as he leaned over and kissed me, “I’m so glad you are here too.” He said. I smiled.
“You don’t know the half of it,” I said. He smiled again.
“Breakfast?” he asked grinning ear to ear. I nodded, “Gear,” he said slipping his pants on and getting out of bed. I smiled as I watched him, and almost cried. This was one of the happiest moments of my life. It was really nothing, but I was finally here, in England, with Paul, and I couldn’t be happier. Paul rummaged through his closet and finally pulled out a little robe.
“You can wear this for now,” he said walking over to me. I got out of bed carefully and slipped it on. It only went down to my knees. I looked down and then back at him.
“Do you wear this?” I asked him smiling.
“Sometimes, but mostly I wear that,” he said pointing to a much longer robe, “Why?” he asked. I raised my eyebrows.
“Why? Cuz it’s so short!” I said laughing. He scowled.
“No it’s not,” he said, but then smiled. I nodded my head.
“Yes it is, but I’m sure you look cute in it,” I said standing on my tip toes to kiss him.
“Thanks, love,” he said grabbing my hand and leading me into a long hallway. We walked through it, and I looked at all the pictures on his wall.
“Who are these people?” I asked. He stopped.
“Uh, relatives mostly; me granda’s dad and such.” He said.
“Wow, that’s cool,” I said. He smiled.
“Thanks.” He replied, as we got to the long winding steps.
“This house is huge,” He smiled.
“Ah, not really,”
“Not really? I could get lost just up here!” I said. He laughed.
“I suppose, it’s big to others. Me and Martha are used to it.” He said. I looked back and Martha was following us happily downstairs. We got to the ground floor and I couldn’t believe it. It was so big and decorated very well.
“You have a really good sense of décor,” I said to him. He laughed.
“Thanks again,” he said flipping his hand out acting like he was gay. I laughed. That’s when I saw it. Through the wall length bay windows, I saw his garden. I had read in books that he had a fantastic garden, but never saw it. Not even in pictures.
“Hey, can I go out there and look,” I said pointing to the garden.
“Of course you can, it’s yours too now you know,” he said. With that I smiled and kissed him.
“I love you so much,” I said.
“I love you too, now go on,” he said patting me on the butt. I turned around mouth open. He winked at me and I laughed, “I’ll be right in here when you’re finished. I’m going to give Brian a call, let him know I’m back.” He said making a face.
“Will he be mad at you?” I asked wondering what the worried look was for. He shrugged.
“I have no idea, we’ll have to see.” He said.
“Good luck,” I said.
“Thanks,” he said and I turned and walked towards the garden entrance. I opened the door and I swear I could smell every single flower and plant. He even had a little walkway going through. It was so amazing. There was a slight chill in the air, so I wrapped the robe around me a bit tighter and walked through the garden smelling everything. I was outside for at least a half hour, when I decided to go back in the house with Paul. I walked inside and the house was quiet. I looked around and finally saw Paul, sitting on a chair, staring off to space.
“Hey, Paul,” I said. It took him a few minutes before he acknowledged me.
“Hey,” he said disturbed.
“Everything okay?” I asked moving in front of him. He moved his hands and motioned me to sit on his lap. I sat down and he put his arms around me.
“I don’t know.” He said finally.
“Well, did you talk to Brian?” I asked. He nodded.
“He found someone else,” he said. I was confused.
“What? How could he find someone else?” I asked. He shrugged.
“He said that things were beginning to get complicated. He already booked quite a few tours and TV shows, that he had to do something. John has also been coming up with songs left and right I guess, and George, Martin that is,” he said and I smiled already knowing that, “Wanted to start getting them recorded, so they needed a sub bass player.”
“Why didn’t he just cancel them?” I asked. Paul smiled and laughed a little.
“I wish you could just do that, but with that many things lined up, it’s almost impossible and there would be a LOT of angry people. Plus, they already paid the guy to fill in for the upcoming events.”
“So what are they going to do? Just leave you out of your own tour?” I asked him, concerned.
“Well, I really hate to have to do this to you love, but we’re going to meet in about an hour at the studio, and go over things to see what it is we should do. Or can do,” he said really bothered. I smiled, not quite as genuine as usual. It was already starting. Paul was leaving to do work, and I’d be by myself. I shook my head and tried not to be so selfish. This was horrible and Paul was really upset about it.
“Don’t worry about me Paul; you guys need to figure this out. It’s kinda a big problem,” I said and he smiled, “How long will it take?” I then asked. He shrugged looking down, starting to run his fingers down my bare knee and leg.
“I don’t know, couple hours. You should come by for lunch though,” he said looking back up at me.
“I don’t know how to get there Paul,” I started.
“I’ll have Neil or Mal come and get you.”
“Oh Paul, I don’t want to make them do that if they don’t want to…” I said. He smiled.
“It’ll be fine, love. That’s what they do and it doesn’t matter if they want to or not. If we ask them to do something, they pretty much have to. Here,” he said moving to get up. I stood up and he went over to a little table underneath a mirror and dug in the pocket of a suit coat lying there.
“What are you doing?” I asked walking over to him. He turned around with a bunch of cash in his hand. I was confused.
“I think you and Pattie are about the same size, Cyn’s too big, so I’ll call her and ask if you can borrow an outfit for today. Then you can take this, and go shopping for some new clothes.” He said handing me the English money. I had no idea how much was there.
“Paul, that’s a lot of money,” I said taking it and looking at it, “how much is here anyway?”
“About $300.” He stated, "In American money, that is." He added.
“$300!? Paul, I’m not going to take this,” I said trying to hand it back to him. He smiled and took me in his arms.
“You are so wonderful,” he said smiling and kissing me quick, “But please, you don’t have anything to wear here and it might be a few days before we can go to your place to get your things. You don’t have to spend all of it, just get what you need for a few days. Not just clothes, but anything else.” He said. I smiled.
“I love you,” I said kissing him.
“And I love you,” he said as the phone rang, “Hold on,”
“Hello?” I heard Paul say as I looked down at the cash in my hands, “Oh hey Brian. Yes, 11:00 will work out. I’ll be there. Ta.” He said and hung up.
“You have to leave soon huh?” I asked him. He looked sadly at me as he walked over to stand in front of me.
“Yeah, but afterwards we’ll have all the time in the world. I promise,” he said kissing me. I tried to smile and Paul went back to the phone to call Pattie. He told me she said I could borrow some clothes and George would be over with them in 15 minutes on his way to pick up Paul for the studio. We didn’t even get breakfast…. It was quarter after 10 and I followed Paul upstairs and sat on the bed while he changed for the meeting.
“Where do I go to shop?” I asked, “I don’t know London that well.” I said. He smiled as he buttoned his gray dress pants. He walked over to me and sat next to me.
“I’m sorry love, I’m not thinking clearly right now. Pattie said she’d be happy to go shopping with you in about an hour and then you two would stop by the studio around one for lunch.” He said.
“Oh, that was nice of her,” I said. I felt a little like it was going to be awkward. I didn’t know if she knew about George and me.
“Are you alright?” he asked me.
“Yeah, I just don’t like how you have to leave so quickly.” I said smiling, “But I mise well get used to it now, since it’ll be almost all the time.” I said letting out a little laugh. Paul grabbed my hand.
“No, love, you don’t have to get used to it. I’ll be with you almost all the time. You’ll be able to come to almost everything, this is just so quick because there is a tour coming up in a week and we need to figure out if I’m left out of it or not.” He said.
“How could they leave you out? You and John are the main people, no offence to the others.” I said. He smiled.
“Yes, well, whatever the case, this guy did the last one, and although there wasn’t as big of a show, there were still quite a few people who came to see and hear us, with me there or not. So to let the guy do this next one, and I’ll join from there, wouldn’t hurt us that much. But that is what we’re going to find out.” He said kissing my forehead as a buzzing noise filled the house, “Love, will you go let George in please,” Paul asked. I nodded and got up from the bed and walked downstairs. I opened the door.
“Olivia!” George said hugging me.
“Hi, George. How are you?” I asked. He smiled.
“Fab, yourself?”
“Good, thanks.”
“Feel good to finally be out of wherever you were?” he asked. I nodded.
“Very,”
“Hey George,” we heard Paul say. I turned around and saw him coming down the stairs. His aftershave and cologne filled the air.
“Hey Paul, it’s about time you’re back!” George said. Paul rolled his eyes.
“Bloody tell me about it. It was hell,” he said, the two of them laughing. I made a face at him, but didn’t say anything due to the sheer awkwardness of George.
“Ah it couldn’t have been that bad, you finally got the love of your life in there you know,” George said looking at me. I was surprised he was the one who said something. I turned to him and he smiled. I smiled in return as Paul came beside me and kissed my cheek.
“You’re right, that I did.” He said smiling.
“Well, we’ve got to get going.” George said.
“Right, when is Pattie coming over?” Paul asked putting on his suit coat, which actually matched. I smiled.
“She said she’d be here around 11:30. She wanted to give you a chance to relax and shower and such.” I nodded.
“Alright sounds good.”
“Bye Olivia,” George said walking out the door.
“Here,” Paul said handing me a number.
“What’s this?” I asked.
“It’s the studio number. Brian doesn’t like when we give it out, but he’ll answer, so if you need anything at all just call. There is everything you need I think in the bathroom, and there is extra toothbrushes in the drawer, or you can use mine; whatever you want.” Paul told me as George honked.
“Thanks,” I said, “I’m sure I’ll find everything.”
“Alright, well, anything at all, just call.” He said. I nodded and we kissed.
“Bye love,” he said. I waved.
“Bye, see you at one!” I yelled as he ran through his gate, stopping to give the three girls there his autograph. He got in the car with George, and they drove away. I smiled as I shut the door. I wondered back upstairs into the master bathroom. I searched through the different drawers and cupboards to see what I could find. Luckily, I found some Herbal Essence Shampoo to use. I wondered if it was from Jane or some other girl that lived or had an affair with Paul. I shivered thinking about it, but I needed to shower, and I was Paul’s now so it didn’t matter whose shampoo this was. I took a nice long relaxing shower and pulled my hair back in a pony tail. I used Paul’s toothbrush to brush my teeth and smiled to myself the whole time. This was a dream come true.

About five minutes after 11:30, the buzzer once again filled the house. I opened the door and saw a cheery Pattie.
“Hi, I’m Pattie.” She said holding out her hand. She was gorgeous.
“Olivia,” I said shaking her hand and letting her in, “Thanks so much for borrowing me these clothes and taking me shopping. I have no idea where to go.” I said laughing. She smiled.
“Oh no problem, I love shopping, and plus, I’ll probably see a lot of you now anyway, since you’re Paul’s girlfriend, so I thought, why not get to know each other now on a shopping spree!” she said laughing. I laughed also. She was very nice.
“Yes, this is going to take a lot to get used to I think,” I said.
“Oh it’s not that bad. I thought that when George and I first began dating not long ago, but I’m used to it and it’s nothing. You and Paul make a cute couple.” She said complimenting me and smiling.
“Oh thanks,” I said wondering when she saw us together. She must’ve seen the confusion on my face.
“He talked about you all the time.” She started, “He also had this picture of you two outside of a Love Birds shop, um, that one.” She said pointing. I turned around and noticed the picture of Paul and me sitting on an entry table. I walked over to it and picked it up, looking at it, “I think he really loves you.” Pattie said coming behind me. I looked at her and set the picture back down.
“Yeah, I love him more than anything.” I said.
“It may seem hard at first; it was for George and me. But like George, Paul’s such a great guy. He’ll take such good care of you and love you like no other.” She said.
“Really?” I asked. She nodded.
“Yeah, the biggest thing for me was the parties and such. I like going to them, but I felt I would have to share George and he would want to be shared. Then I found that that sort of thing didn’t interest him anymore, and he wanted only me.”
“Yeah, that always makes me kinda scared too. Paul was such a girl chaser, I’m always afraid he’ll get bored with me and want to move on, or cheat on me.” I admitted. She smiled.
“And it may seem that way at first. I’m sure you know, but Paul is one of those people who want everybody to be happy and to like him. You may think at first that he’s flirting with other girls, but he’s just being friendly. That’s the way he is.” I nodded in agreement, “I don’t think he’d ever do something like that to you. We all used to talk about how different he is ever since you came into his life. He always would talk about you, relate you to something going on at the time. Like I said, he really loves you.” She said. I smiled.
“Thanks, that makes me feel a lot better.” I said.
“No problem. And I bet shopping will make you feel ten times as good!” she said. I laughed and we left to shop. We spent the next hour buying things and talking. That $300 Paul gave me was going quicker than I thought. Especially when I was shopping with a model; she wanted me to buy everything! It wasn’t long and it was 12:30.
“We should get going to the studio.” Pattie said looking at her watch. I agreed and we hauled our bags to Pattie’s car and drove to the famous Abbey Road. We were there about 10 minutes early.
“Let’s just go in and see what they are doing,” Pattie said getting out of the car. I followed her inside. I looked around, and the fan part of me took over. I could not believe that I was in Abbey Road, the Beatles studio! The place they recorded all their number one hits….as if this was so special, I was dating Paul McCartney! We walked up some stairs to a closed door at the top.
“Do we go in?” I asked. Pattie placed her ear on the door.
“I can’t tell what they’re doing.” She said listening. I stood quiet.
“Maybe we should just wait out here,” I said.
“Wait…I hear music. Let’s just peek,” she said smiling. She tried the door and it was unlocked so she opened it just a little.
“What are they doing?” I whispered not being able to see.
“Just rehearsing or messing around I think.” She said opening the door more, “Come on.” She said and I followed her inside.
“Hey Pattie!” John said.
“Hey guys are we interrupting?” she asked.
“Not at all, we were just waiting for you girls.” George said walking over to Pattie, “Hi Olivia.” He said. I smiled.
“Hey,” I said and looked over at John who just smiled slightly at me. I completely forgot about the little incident between us….I felt kinda awkward. He must be confused.
“Have fun shopping?” Paul asked getting up and walking over to me. I nodded.
“Very, it’s not everyday I get to shop with someone who knows fashion, and I mean knows fashion!” I said. He laughed, as well as the others.
“Yes, I thought you might enjoy that.” He said putting his arm around me and walking me over to the piano bench to sit down next to him.
“So where are we going for lunch?” John asked, giving me a weird look.
“You boys were supposed to figure that out,” Pattie said sitting on George’s lap. John laughed.
“Sorry,” he said glancing at me again. I turned to Paul quickly.
“What’s good here?” I asked him. He raised his eyebrows in thought.
“A lot, I don’t know.” He said laughing. I rolled my eyes. We fought over who was to decide for about 15 minutes when we finally settled on a place called The Living Room on Victoria Street in Liverpool. It was pretty good. Afterwards, we all went our separate ways. Paul and I finally heading home to be alone again.
“So did you get everything settled?” I asked as Paul unlocked the front door and I walked in.
“Sort of,” he said following me and shutting the door, “He’s going to stay for the first week of the tour and keep the pay for the rest. Then I’ll take over like normal and finish it off. We’re just going to tell the fans that I came down with a terrible sickness. Brian’s looking into it, so it sounds real. I’ll be taking over all press, TV, and radio things also.” He said. I smiled and touched his arm.
“Well, that’s good. When do you leave then?” I asked him.
“Oh, about 2 ˝ weeks. We’re going to meet them in New Orleans for the City Park Stadium concert.”
“We?” I asked him smiling.
“Yes, you’re coming with me aren’t you?” he asked. I nodded smiling,“If you want we can toodle around Mexico or something the week before we head up there.” He said.
“Mexico? Are you serious?” I asked. He laughed.
“Yeah, I know we just got home, but it’ll be a nice get away; celebrating our new life together.” He said. I smiled and in saying that I suddenly thought of something.
“Hey, Paul,” I said.
“Hm?”
“Do you think we can-” I paused. The thought of finally being able to sleep with Paul made me nervous.
“Can what?” he asked.
“Finally…make love?” I asked quietly.
“Oh yeah, I didn’t even think of that…” he said finally realizing it himself. It was an awkward moment. We didn’t know whether we should run upstairs like happy kids and do it right away, or just let it happen when it happened.
“Yeah, I just thought of it now.” I said.
“Good thinking,” he said just looking down at the floor. I heard him swallow. Man this was awkward.
“So….” I started. He felt the tension himself and laughed.
“So, it’ll be romantic when we finally do,” he said smiling. I smiled mentally thanking him.
“Yes, it will.”

That night I sat on Paul’s bed reading a magazine as he fiddled around on his guitar humming and singing distant phrases to himself.
“Are you working on something in particular?” I asked him setting the magazine down. He looked over his shoulder at me.
“Not really, just messing around mostly. We’re going to be doing a new movie soon, and so we are gonna start to work on the album.” He said. I smiled.
“What movie?” I asked.
“It’s called Help! I think. They were coming up with it when I was gone.” He said starting to play again. (If you are confused because they have already sung songs from Help!, it’s because they already wrote those, but hadn’t put them on the album nor made the movie.) I scooted to the edge of the bed next to him.
“I love listening to you play,” I said. He looked at me.
“Yeah?”
“Hm mm. It’s so soothing. You’re so talented.” I said closing my eyes and putting my arm through the space in between his arm and his side. He kissed my forehead and began to play the unknown, yet beautiful tune, singing different love phrases in it. I opened my eyes and with my fingers brushed his cheek softly. He stopped and looked at me before leaning in to kiss me. I felt him put the guitar down before he moved his hands down my back. He leaned me on my back and kissed my eyelids, mouth, and neck, the moisture from him lips staying in every spot he touched. I moved my hands up and down his body as he did the same to me. Without saying a word, each of us knowing what was to come, I began unbuttoning each little button on his shirt. Paul watched me as I went down the buttons. Lightly I traced my finger down his chest, feeling and hearing him breathe deeply and shaky. I moved his shirt over his shoulders and he positioned himself so he was free from the oxford shirt. Then, he reached out for me slowly removing my shirt and bra running his fingers down me. I was short of breath as his lips touched me. Before long, I was able to remove Paul’s pants and he my skirt. With everything removed, looking at each other, still with no words, moved our way under the covers of Paul’s bed. We both trembled with nervousness, love, and excitement, lying, Paul on top of me, under the covers. Paul began to kiss me again making me ache with anticipation. It wasn’t minutes later that we finally joined as one. The moments that followed with Paul were amazing and I’m glad now that we waited. I mean, I’m glad that the guy didn’t let us do it whenever we pleased, because I don’t think it would’ve been half as special or romantic. Paul and I made romance for quite a while before stopping, just cuddling. As I laid there holding on to him, I heard thunder and the light tapping of rain on the window. I smiled.
“This is how I pictured it you know,” I said.
“Really?” he asked, kissing me on the top of the head. I nodded.
“For some reason, I always pictured the first time being in your bed, on a rainy night, in front of a fire place.” I said looking at the fire crackling ahead of me.
“Well, it was perfect,” he said. I cuddled closer to him and shut my eyes, replaying the last hour or so in my mind. I couldn’t stop thinking about how this was a dream come true. I loved Paul and he loved me, and our first time making love was perfect.
“Were you nervous?” I asked him remembering how he was trembling as was I. I wasn’t expecting him to be like that. He’d been with tons of girls. He laughed quietly.
“Yeah, you could tell?” he asked, with a tone that wished I hadn’t. I looked up at him.
“Yes, but I’m glad. Unfortunately, it’s always in the back of my mind that you’ve been with so many girls, and I think that it might make things less special or that you’ll compare me to them. But being that you were nervous, somehow makes it better. Like it was your first time,” I said.
“I understand. And love, I regret being with all those girls now and not just saving myself for you. I mean at the time I didn’t know it was you, but you know what I mean.” He said. I nodded, “And I would never compare you to them, not that it would matter because you’re better than any of them in every way. Those other birds will never take anything away from us. I never think of them.” I smiled.
“I wish now I never went all the way with Davy. I wish I waited…” I said, “But in a way it was a first time for me with you, because I really love you so it was so different….” I said. He nodded.
“I agree. That’s partly why I was so nervous. I felt not experienced and I didn’t really know what to do exactly. I love you so much; I didn’t want to screw it up. It wasn’t just for fun like it used to be. It’s very different now, and I like it.” He said. I smiled.
“Me too,” I said resting my head on his chest. The fire began to go out slowly as we continued to lay together, and the only sound I heard was our breathing and the rain outside. What a perfect night.
